Take precautions

With growing concerns about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) globally and cases reported in Florida, you may be unsure about what that means and what you should do. The best thing to do is take precautions but don’t panic.

Older adults and people with compromised immune systems are at a higher risk if exposed to the COVID-19 virus. Those who have traveled, especially abroad recently, have a greater chance of having been exposed. Doctors and officials are learning more every day about the virus. To keep up on the latest, visit the Florida Department of Health website at http://www.floridahealth.gov/diseases-and-conditions/COVID-19.

If you have your regular medical appointments scheduled, you should keep those appointments. If you are feeling ill, you can make an appointment or visit our urgent care. You shouldn’t avoid medical appointments or treatment, or delay prescription refills out of fear of being exposed to the virus. It is important to maintain your overall health.

We can all take precautions such as avoiding large crowds, washing your hands often, staying home when you’re sick and postponing travel. If you know someone at risk, you can help make sure they have what they need so they can avoid going to the store or running errands where they would be in contact with large groups of people.

As long as you take the illness seriously but don’t go to the extreme, you’ll likely avoid getting seriously ill. Taking precautions and helping others, will help us all get through this virus concern.
