Governor Desantis,
I am reaching out to you as a Nurse and Practice Administrator of a very busy urgent care, family care, and occupational clinic in Naples. Our clinic is a seven day a week practice with a moderately complex laboratory onsite.
We care for both our local government and city employees to include Collier County Sheriff, the Collier County Government and the City as their Medical Director. We are the medical team that cares for all aspects of their occupation and often their personal health and I am asking that you consider allowing us access to the Abbot testing that you will have control of this week.
On average we have received about 15 testing kits from Quest in total and I am on the phone daily fighting for more. We see on average 100 patients a day. Our local department of health does not have doctors on staff to treat illness and is not capable of testing all that need to be tested. Many of our first responders are in the demographics of treatment on an outpatient basis. This is our strength.
Sir, I don’t have the pull of large hospitals, or emergency rooms or large national MD groups. I am a nurse on the front line of an outpatient clinic that serves our community and I need your help.
I can tell you that we have done what we do for thirty years and our expertise is in supporting our employer and their employees with a subspecialty in doing our best to keep people out of the hospital by correctly diagnosing, treating and supporting patients in an outpatient setting.
I ask that you provide us with the tools needed for us to do what we do so very well. We will not let you down, I promise. We need testing, we need to support our community and we need you to know that we have NO other way to get this without your help.
Thank you for all that you do and for your consideration.
Yours in Health,
Lori-Ann Martell, LPN, CMPE
